How to add your Google Business View virtual tour to your website
So you have gone to the trouble of getting 360 photography and a Google Business View virtual tour done for your Google My Business and Google Maps listings so that your customers can find you easier online. Now what? Embed your virtual tour into your website!
It is as easy to embed a Google Business View tour into your website as it would be a YouTube video. The secret is just find the right piece of code to copy and paste into your website. Here is how its done:
1. Find your virtual tour on Google Maps
To get your embed code you need to find your virtual tour on Google. A good place to start is by navigating to google.com/maps and searching for your business name. When you find your business listing, navigate to your pictures and select one of your 360 images (the 360 images have the white circular arrows in the bottom left corners).
2. Navigate to your starting image
When you embed your Google Business View virtual tour on your website, you can start it from any point that you like! So navigate through your tour to find the view that you would like your website visitors to see first. It is generally a good rule of thumb to choose a position near the entrance facing into the business, as this invites visitors to navigate into the space.
3. Find the submenu to get your code
Now that you have your tour pointing at the perfect starting angle, it is time to get get your embed code. This is the code that you will copy into your website. Simply click the three dots icon that is next to your business name, and from the submenu that appears, click "Share or embed image."
4. Get that code!
From here you will be presented options for sharing your tour. You will likely be presented first with the option to "Send a link" and this allows you to send a URL link either by copying it, or sharing it via social media. You need to select the tab option "Embed a map" and here is where you will find the option to copy the HTML code that you need to embed your Google Business View virtual tour into your website. Simply click "Copy HTML" and you have your code to copy into your website!
5. Customise your tour
You have the option here to change the size of your tour to suit the dimensions of your website. Simply choose either, small, medium or large, depending on your needs. If you have specific dimensions that you need the tour to be, you can also choose "Custom size" and enter your own values in.
6. Paste in your code
You can now paste your code into the HTML of the page where you would like your Google Business Tour to display. Once you have done this, I'd recommend looking at the code and changing the width setting to 100% so that the tour looks good across all devices.
7. Save the page and check how it looks online!
Make sure you check how the page looks online and I'd recommend doing this on a desktop computer, a tablet and a smartphone so that you can see how it looks across devices. If something looks a little off, you can try editing the height value in the code. Usually a value between 450 and 550 looks good on most websites.
That it! You can now sit back and relax knowing that you have given your customers ANOTHER way for them to check out your business online.
